What is Viagra?Viagra is a powerful phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor, which works by helping to relax blood vessels and nerves that produce blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. This allows blood to flow into the penis, the first phase of the erectile function process. In doing so, it alters the dynamics of the blood vessels that deliver blood to the penis, causing it to narrow.
As a result, the effectiveness of Viagra Tablet is reduced but also short term. This can lead to symptoms such as an erection lasting more than 4 hours, gain weight, or cause rare but serious health problems, such as amyotab receptor syndrome (a genetic disorder that causes...

A new study from The Food and Drug Administration has found that the active ingredient in Viagra, sildenafil, may help treat men who have difficulty swallowing tablets.
Dr. Charles H. Fugh, professor of medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, said that while the results of a recent study are reassuring, it's not the first time that Viagra has been shown to be effective for men who have difficulty swallowing pills.
Fugh said the findings were based on a survey conducted among men who take Viagra daily for two years.
"Our findings are consistent with prior scientific evidence showing that sildenafil can be a promising treatment for erectile dysfunction, and that sildenafil is also effective for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension," Fugh said in a telephone interview. "This study also provides strong evidence that sildenafil has the same efficacy as vardenafil for pulmonary arterial hypertension."
Viagra is the active ingredient in Viagra. However, the Food and Drug Administration has not approved sildenafil for use in treating erectile dysfunction, Fugh said.
The results are being presented at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists's annual meeting in Washington, D. C., October 29, 2007.
The Food and Drug Administration will evaluate Viagra's efficacy and safety for use by men with erectile dysfunction. The drug is currently approved for use in men with the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient to have sexual intercourse. The study by Fugh and colleagues is based on a survey among men who take Viagra. It is not intended as a substitute for medical care, but rather as a method of evaluating the effectiveness of drugs. Participants were asked how they would like to be treated if they had difficulty swallowing pills. A questionnaire was completed.
Participants were given a list of the pills they were taking, including sildenafil and tadalafil, and asked to rate the ease with which they could swallow the pills on a scale of 1 to 5.
The results showed that men who took sildenafil were able to swallow the pills in about 80 percent of the time, compared with about 80 percent of men who did not take the pills.
The study found that the men who took sildenafil were able to swallow the pills about 80 percent of the time, compared with about 75 percent of men who took tadalafil.
The study also found that sildenafil was generally more effective than the tadalafil in treating erectile dysfunction, but that the men who took the tadalafil were generally more likely to have difficulty swallowing the pills.
